Danco Capital Signs Contract to Install 12,790 Ultrasonic Smart Water Meters for ELDOWAS

Danco Capital Limited has signed a contract with the Water Sector Trust Fund (WaterFund) to supply, deliver, and install 12,790 smart water meters in Eldoret. The project, funded by the World Bank under the Water and Sanitation Development Project Conditional Liquidity Support Grant (CLSG) II, is set to transform water management for Eldoret Water and Sanitation Company (ELDOWAS) Ltd.

In a ceremony held at the WaterFund offices in Nairobi, Danco Capital Director Sachin Dhanani officially received the contract from WaterFund’s Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Willis Ombai, marking the commencement of the project. The meters, manufactured by Germany’s DIEHL Metering, will enhance automation, efficiency, and accuracy in water metering, reducing losses in Non-Revenue Water (NRW) and improving service delivery. During the handover ceremony, Mr. Willis Ombai emphasized, “I congratulate DANCO on being awarded the contract to supply the water meters for ELDOWAS. DANCO emerged as the best suited in terms of understanding the scope of work required and having the capacity to deliver on the project. I request that DANCO ensure the timely supply and installation of water meters, as their products adhere to the high-quality standards and specifications set by WaterFund for the projects we undertake.”

While receiving the contract, Sachin Dhanani stated, “We have supported water utilities in Eastern Africa through our locally manufactured products and world-class solutions sourced from top global partners like DIEHL. Our partnerships enable us to deliver smart metering solutions that enhance water management and operational efficiency. This project marks a significant milestone in our commitment to sustainable water access and aligns with the UN Sustainable Development Goal 6 ensuring clean and safe water for all.”

WSTF’s Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Willis Ombai, handed the signed contract to Danco Capital Director, Sachin Dhanani, during the official signing ceremony at the WSTF offices in Nairobi.

About Water Sector Trust Fund

Water Sector Trust Fund (WaterFund) is the Kenyan State Corporation under the Ministry of Water, Sanitation and Irrigation, and mandated to assist in financing water, sanitation and water resources management projects to the underserved and marginalized rural and urban areas. In the Water Act, 2016, the mandate of WaterFund is to provide conditional and unconditional grants to the Counties and to assist in financing the development of and management of water services in the marginalized and underserved areas including:

  1. a)      Community level initiatives for the sustainable management of water resources
  2. b)      Development of water services in rural areas considered not to be commercially viable for provision of water services by licensees; and
  3. c)      Development of water services in the under-served poor urban areas
  4. d)      Research activities in the area of water resource management and water services, sewerage and sanitation
